Alexandrina Council Community Grants and Donations Program
The Alexandrina Council region is recognised as one of the most proactive and creative communities in South Australia. Alexandrina Council values and recognises the role of community groups and organisations within the Council area, and endeavors to financially support a range of projects and activities that are seen to enhance quality of life, and deliver services to the community.
Each year Alexandrina Council makes funding available to our community under the Community Grants Program for (but not limited to) not-for-profit sporting, recreational, social, arts and other community groups and, in some instances, local individuals in the support of one-off activities, projects, festivals and events. The purpose of the Community Grants Program is to encourage local groups to take a more active and visible role in the community and create opportunities for community participation.
The 2015 Community Grants Program will open 9.00am, 16 February 2015 and close at 4.00pm, 27 March 2015. Community Grants Information Sessions will be held in the Alexandrina Council Chambers, 11 Cadell Street, Goolwa during the opening week of the Community Grants Program.
Dates and times of the information sessions will be advertised on the Council website and local media inearly February 2015. Documentation for the Community Grant Program, including links to the electronic application forms and guidelines will also available at www.alexandrina.sa.gov.au from 16 February 2015.

The Connecting Communities through the Arts grant program provides financial support on a one-off basis to assist artists and not-for-profit community organisations to deliver inspiring arts and cultural programs to the Alexandrina community. Individuals or organisations who believe they can make a positive creative contribution that is consistent with Council’s strategic directions, and enhance the quality of life of the community, are encouraged to apply.
Festivals and Events - CLOSED
Festivals and Events Grants are available to provide financial and/or in kind support to events which are capable of enhancing community participation, promoting the Alexandrina Council region as a tourism destination and stimulate local the economy while achieving minimal environmental impact as well as minimal adverse impact to residents.
Small Recreation & Sport Grant - CLOSED
Small Recreation and Sport Grant are to support the development of not-for-profit recreation and sporting groups wishing to make a contribution to recreation and sporting activities within the Alexandrina Council region.
Recreation Capital Grant - CLOSED
The aim of the Recreation Capital Grant is to support projects that focus on maintaining and conserving the community's assets by way of major capital improvements and provide opportunities for a broader cross section of the community to be involved in recreational activities. These include additions and alterations to buildings, clubrooms and infrastructure for community owned sporting and recreational facilities.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are matching the grant amount applied for (dollar for dollar). This can be with cash, materials, volunteer hours or in-kind work.
Community Halls Capital Grants Scheme - CLOSED
Across the Alexandrina Council regional there are a number of community, non-Council, owned halls. These halls are often significant to community life and the Community Halls Capital Grant Scheme may assist in the improvement and maintenance of these local community structures. These grants will only be funded where the applicant can show a commitment to match funding.
Youth Sponsorship Program 2014 - 15 OPEN
Alexandrina Council through its' Youth Sponsorship Program aims to encourage and support young people who display outstanding commitment and achievement in their chosen field of endeavour. The purpose of the grant is to assist young people aged between 10-20 yrs. who live in the Alexandrina Council area to participate in competitions, research, study or events that develop their personal or professional skills and experience in their chosen field.

Heritage and Conservation Grants - CLOSED
Throughout the Alexandrina area, a considerable number of historical residential, public and commercial buildings that provide important connections to our heritage and cultural identity. These properties enhance and promote the region as a highly desirable place to live.
The Heritage and Conservation Grants are aimed at encouraging heritage building owners to safeguard the condition of these assets though a partial funding of external restoration, structural and conservation works, once Council Development Approval has been gained.
Rural Initiatives Grant Scheme – CLOSED
The Council is committed to taking a proactive approach in supporting primary production, improve viability and maintaining positive contribution to our rural communities. The Rural Initiatives Grant Scheme is designed to support projects which promotes sustainable rural and primary production initiatives within the Alexandrina Council area.
Alexandrina Council encourages and assists a wide range of organisations and events that provide support to the Alexandrina community. An amount of public money is budgeted each financial year to undertake this support. This assistance may be either financial, in-kind (services, equipment or goods) or a mixture of both.
The decision to make a donation will be made at each Council Meeting by the Elected Members.
Applications to the Donations Program are limited to charity, community groups and not for profit organisations. Business entities and individuals are not eligible.
All requests must be made using an Alexandrina Council Community Donation Program application form (link below) to be eligible for consideration.
