Alexandrina Council Community Grants and Donations Program

Each year Alexandrina Council makes funds available under its' Community Grants and Donations programs for, (but not limited to) local non-profit community, sporting, recreational, social and arts groups and individuals; in the support of one-off projects.

Alexandrina Council values and recognises the role of community groups and organisations within the Council area, and endeavours to financially support a range of projects and activities that are seen to enhance quality of life, and delivery of services and provision of facilities to the community.

The purpose of these grants and donations is to encourage groups to take a more active and visible role in the community and create opportunities for community participation.

 Arts and Cultural Development Grants

  • Arts & Cultural Development Community Grants Program 2014 - OPEN

The Arts & Cultural Development Community Grants Program provides financial support on a one-off basis to assist artists, community groups and organisations to deliver inspiring arts and cultural programs. Individuals or organisations who believe they can make a positive creative contribution to enhance the quality of life of the communities of the Alexandrina Council region that are consistent with Council’s strategic directions are encouraged to apply under the 2014/15 Arts & Cultural Development Grants program.

Applications for Alexandrina Council’s ‘Arts & Cultural Development Community Grants’ OPEN 9.00 am Friday 18 July 2014 and close 5.00pm Friday 15 August 2014.

Grants are now available in the following categories:

1      Artistic Development - Established & Emerging Artists Grant

This grant will support the artistic development of an individual established professional or emerging artist, residing permanently within the Alexandrina Council area. It is intended to further develop individual professional arts practice and experience, and raise the artistic profile of the Council area.  There is an expectation that applicants will demonstrate how professional development attained as a result of receiving this grant will provide a benefit to the broader community.

2      Indigenous Arts & Cultural Development Grants

The Indigenous Arts & Cultural Development Grants aim to increase and promote awareness of Indigenous arts and culture across the Alexandrina Council region. Applications are open to permanent residents of the Alexandrina Council area, and/ or to individuals and groups located outside the Council area, able to demonstrate that their project or activity will provide extended Indigenous cultural awareness outcomes to the Alexandrina community. Successful applications will demonstrate significant lead roles involving Aboriginal individuals, groups and partnerships throughout the life of the project.

An Arts & Cultural Development Community Grants Information Session to support potential applicants will be held

7.00pm – 8.00 pm Wednesday 6 August 2014

In the Community Chambers, at the Goolwa Council Offices, 11 Cadell Street, Goolwa.

  • Festivals and Events Grants - closed

Festivals and Events Grants are available to provide financial and/or in kind support to events which are capable of promoting the Alexandrina Council region as a tourism destination and stimulate local economies for the communities of the region while achieving minimal environmental impact as well as minimal adverse impact to residents.

 


Sports, Recreation & Facilities Grants

  • Small Recreation & Sport Grant - Closed

The aim of the Small Recreation and Sport Grant is to support the development of not-for-profit recreation and sporting groups wishing to make a contribution to recreation and sporting activities within the Alexandrina Council region.

  • Recreation Capital Grant - Closed

The aim of the Recreation Capital Grant is to support projects that focus on maintaining and conserving the community's assets by way of major capital improvements, providing opportunities for a broader cross section of the community to be involved in recreational activities. These include additions and alterations to buildings, clubrooms and infrastructure for community owned sporting and recreational facilities.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are matching the grant amount applied for (dollar for dollar). This can be with cash, materials, volunteer hours or in-kind work.

  • Community Halls Capital Grants Scheme - Closed

The Community Halls Capital Grants Scheme aims to assist organisations wishing to make a contribution to the Alexandrina Council region by way of maintenance and capital improvements to local community owned buildings or structures. Individual grants will be funded on a dollar for dollar contribution basis. The grant is for community halls that are not Council owned. The Community Halls Capital Grant is for community halls that are not Council owned and not on the Council Asset Register.

Community Development Grants

  •  Youth Sponsorship Program 2014 - 15

Alexandrina Council through its' Youth Sponsorship Program aims to encourage and support young people who display outstanding commitment and achievement in their chosen field of endeavour. The purpose of the grant is to assist young people aged between 10-20 yrs. living in the Alexandrina Council area to participate in competitions, research, study or events that develop their personal or professional skills and experience in their chosen field.

Community Donations

Alexandrina Council encourages and assists a wide range of organisations and events that provide support to the Alexandrina community. An amount of public money is budgeted each financial year to undertake this support. This assistance may be either financial, in-kind (services, equipment or goods) or a mixture of both.

The decision to make a donation will be made jointly at each Council Meeting by the Mayor and Elected Members.

Applications to the Donations Program are limited to charity, community groups and not for profit organisations. Business entities and individuals will not be eligible.

All requests must be made using an Alexandrina Council Community Donation Program application form to be eligible for consideration.
