The Black Swamp Walk is on private property owned by the Currency Creek Estate Winery, before commencing the walk please register at the Winery Bar and collect a map.

The Black Swamp is one of the three swamps on the Fleurieu which is listed on the National Estate Register.  The register is a database of significant natural and cultural sites throughout Australia and as The Black Swamp is home to a few rare and endangered species it has been listed to ensure it is preserved for future generations.  Some of the endangered or rare species found in the area include the elusive 'Southern Emu Wren', water purifying 'Water Ribbons (yriglochin procerum)', the once thought to be extinct Carabid Beetle as well as several native fish.  So kee your eyes open for the many beautiful plants and animals.
