Due to the COVID -19 pandemic the traditional Christmas Pageant and Carols held in the Alexandrina region in 2020 are not able to go ahead. Further details are available in our Mayoral Statement.

Stars of Night Christmas Projections
We need your family photos!
Alexandrina Council is developing Stars of Night Christmas Projections and we need your photos to bring it to life.
In December, a roaming projection unit will be set up in Strathalbyn and Goolwa, using buildings to screen rolling images provided by the community to spread some Christmas cheer. The community is encouraged to send images of cherished memories of Christmas from eras gone-by for display in the coming weeks and in the lead up to Christmas in Alexandrina.
Things to Know:
Who can participate? Anyone and everyone.
How do I send my photo? Email it to email@example.com .Each image just be at least 1MB.
What if I can’t use a computer? Phone 8555 7289 and we can scan it for you.
How many can I send? Up to 5 per person.
Will they all be used? At least one from each person and maybe more.
When will the projections be happening? At a date to be announced in December, keep an eye on Council's website and Facebook pages.

Mayor's Best Dressed Shop Window Competition
Keep an eye on local shop windows from 7 December for those participating in the Mayor's Best Dressed Shop Window Competition. Shops will create eye catching fairy light displays that highlight the joyous spirit of the festive season. Winners announced on Council website and social media on 23 December.
Find the eight reindeers in Alexandrina
Community wood shed members have made wooden reindeers that will be adorned with Christmas decorations and displayed throughout our townships in Alexandrina. But where will they be? Mount Compass, Milang, Strathalbyn…? Find the reindeers, in what will be a great adventure for kids and adults to explore the inland and coastlines of our beautiful region. Keep an eye on Council's website and Facebook pages for further details and promotion.
Large Wooden Christmas trees produced by Wood Shed members for Christmas in 2019, will again be adorned with Christmas decorations and displayed in townships across the region.
Online Christmas Carols
The carols event will be produced by the Strathalbyn Inter-church Council. The event is a video combining footage from previous years' carols and will be screened on social media at the time when the carols would normally be held. It will also be available after the event. Further details to follow in lead up to Christmas.
Sing Australia Goolwa Group Christmas Carols
Christmas Carols on the paved area in front of the Goolwa Council Office for 1 hour between 11am to 12 midday on Saturday 19 December.
Sing Australia’s Mission Statement is ‘to make it possible for everyone to sing together in a non-judgmental environment and to be inspired to sing the most glorious songs ever composed wherever they may be’ and, ‘to demonstrate the fundamental and inherent value of singing for the betterment of the human spirit, good health and social wellbeing.
Port Elliot - Twilight Christmas
Twilight Christmas shopping at Port Elliot. Businesses will open for one Friday night on 27 November 2020 to entice early shoppers.
Mount Compass - Christmas Market
Planning for a small market adjacent to the wetlands has begun in Mount Compass. Further details to follow in lead up to Christmas.
Strathalbyn - Deck the Halls – Producer’s market trail
The producer’s market trail will be held in Strathalbyn. Local producers will be spread amongst several halls with full details yet to be confirmed.
