Council continues to support and encourage existing fixed food businesses to thrive, expand and diversify to meet customer demand.

From February 2023 until approximately mid-2025, Council will not be approving Mobile Food Vans to operate from Council Land or Road.

During this time, there are 3 options still available for Mobile Food Vendors to operate in Alexandrina:

  1. On Private Land;
  2. At a Council supported Event; or
  3. Pop-Up Business Activation Policy.

Private Land

Permission of Council is not required for a Mobile Food Vendor to operate from private land. However, there are requirements under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2017 as well as Food Business Notification requirements. Council Supported Event

A Mobile Food Vendor operating on public land or road related area as part of a Council supported Event will be included within the Event authorisation obtained from Council by the Coordinator of that Event.

Pop Up Business Activation policy

Provides opportunity for Mobile Food Vendors to apply to operate from a location included within the Policy, at a fee determined in accordance with the Policy.
