Goolwa Wharf Precinct Board

The Goolwa Wharf Precinct Board is a semi-autonomous subsidiary of Alexandrina Council and has been established to maximise opportunities in and around the wharf precinct in this vibrant historic and natural setting.

The River Murray, Coorong and Lower Lakes help form a significant part of the cultural, economic and social fabric of the Alexandrina community. The Goolwa Wharf Precinct Board will be committed to connecting the town centre with the Wharf Precinct and work to align with Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2014-23 by managing, protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment in an ecologically sustainable manner.

The Board will be tasked with delivering a range of marketing, advocacy, governance and strategic management services to improve short and medium term economic outcomes and enhance the long-term sustainability of the Wharf Precinct and its surrounds.

For the past 2 years the Historic Goolwa Wharf Working Group, consisting of Elected Members, Council staff and local and state tourism industry representatives, has focused on strategic upgrades within the Wharf Precinct to re-stimulate the local tourism economy.

The Goolwa Wharf Precinct Board was appointed by Alexandrina Council on 20 April 2015:

Grantly Schmidt - Commercial Operators Group
