Facility type: Garden; Monument; Park
The Sunter Street Pocket Park in Strathalbyn was designed to enhance the surrounds of the existing sculpture and provide a greener link between the two main street precincts of High Street and Dawson Street. As a priority in the Resilient Hills and Coasts Regional Adaptation Plan, this park incorporates Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) rain gardens and other greening elements including garden beds and lawn area. WSUD is an approach to urban planning and design that integrates the management of the total water cycle into the urban development.
The park also features the sculpture “Sunshine and Showers” as part of the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium, one of the 26 on the sculpture trail.
