Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026 - 2030

The Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2026-2030 was adopted by Council on 20 July 2026. It outlines the actions Council will take to enhance access and inclusion for people with disability, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful, positive change that enables everyone to participate fully in community life.

The Alexandrina 2040 Our Plan to Thrive (A2040) vision promotes inclusive communities:

  1. Liveable - Ensures public spaces and services are designed to be accessible to all, including people with disabilities.
  2. Connected - Directly supports social inclusion, community participation, and accessible transport for people with disabilities.

What is the DAIP?

The Disability Inclusion Act 2018 says that every State authority, including local councils, must create a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. These plans outline how councils will make their services and spaces more inclusive and accessible.

Consultation

Council’s DAIP was prepared using information gathered though the State and Council consultation with people with a lived experience of disability, people who care for or support people with disability and Council staff.

Our priority areas

The priority areas or domains that inform the measures for Council’s Plan include:

  • Inclusive Environments and Communities
  • Education and Employment
  • Personal and Community Support

Funding is allocated to the individual, and the individual or their guardian chooses which providers supply the funded goods and services (subject to certain restrictions).

The scheme is administered by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and overseen by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission).
