SteamRanger – Local residents ticket (LRT) offer. Available to permanent adult residents of Currency Creek, Goolwa, Hindmarsh Island, Middleton and Port Elliot (also available to Victor Harbor residents). Conditions apply

  • Wednesdays and Saturdays (during daylight savings) – three trains a day - not available during school holidays.

For eligible residents over the age of 65 (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). 

If you are transport disadvantaged and meet the eligibility criteria transport may be available through Aged Care service providers. A referral through the My Aged Care (MAC) system will be required before accessing transport services. Southern Communities Transport Scheme (SCOTS)

The Southern Communities Transport Scheme is an initiative of the City of Victor Harbor and Alexandrina Council with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, and the SA Government Department of Human Services.

The Southern Communities Transport Scheme is governed by a Council Section 41 Committee who meet regularly to discuss strategic and operational matters.

SCOTS is a transport information resource for the region. Please contact the office to discuss what transport services are available for the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Transport can be for:

  • Medical appointments - available to get to medical appointments Adelaide and locally. People with SATSS vouchers are not generally able to access Medi Ride for local appointments.
  • Community Shopping Bus - scheduled bus run providing door to door service to and from Victor Harbor.  
    • Hindmarsh Island/ Goolwa and Middleton – Friday mornings
  • Social activities/groups, visiting family, friends and shopping services are based on individual requests.
  • All transport requests are required to be booked three business days ahead and transports services are subject to availability and current COVID restrictions.
  • Eligibility conditions apply.
  • Over 65 – new clients must register or be prepared to register with My Aged Care 1800 200 422.
  • Under 65 – must be transport disadvantaged, not able to drive themselves or have access to someone who can drive them.

Cancer medical appointments

Fleurieu Cancer Support Foundation

  • Door to door transport service for people needing to attend cancer related appointments in Victor Harbor and Adelaide.
  • Aim to provide a comfortable, stress free journey.
  • Donation system applies.

South Australia Transport Subsidy Scheme (SATSS)

  • The subsidies are provided through the South Australian Transport Subsidy Scheme.
  • People with permanent and severe disabilities that limit their ability to use public transport may apply for subsidised taxi fares:
  • 75 per cent subsidy for people who are confined to a wheelchair.
  • 50 per cent subsidy for people who are not confined to a wheelchair.
  • Application form available online and needs to be partly completed by a medical practitioner.

Public Transport - Adelaide Metro

  • Daily trips Strathalbyn to Mount Barker via Wellington Road - Monday to Friday, Current timetable
  • Daily trips Macclesfield to Aldgate - Monday to Friday, Current timetable
  • Adelaide Metro run a bus on school days between Langhorne Creek and Mount Barker via Strathalbyn, Current timetable

Hills Community Transport (HCT) (facilitated by the District Council of Mount Barker)

HCT is funded by the Australian Department of Health, Government of South Australian Department of Human services, District Council of Mount Barker, Adelaide Hills Council and Alexandrina Council.

HCT is a service that provides information about local transport options in the Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and Strathalbyn areas. HCT can provide information about local bus, taxi, and community transport services.

It is best to make metropolitan appointments between 10.00am and 2.00pm to keep waiting times to a minimum.

  • Medical appointments in Strathalbyn, Adelaide or Mount Barker.
  • Shopping Bus – Once a month on a Monday to a major shopping centre outside of Strathalbyn.

Bookings are essential with at least 3 clear working days' notice recommended.

Transport with Milang Old School House Community Centre (MOSHCC)

Transport referrals are required through the My Aged Care system for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). MOSHCC has CHSP funding to provide transport for eligible and registered residents. Service availability is based on MOSHCC’s capacity to deliver services. Client contribution is requested.

Lakes Home Care (LHC) also provide transport for Home Care Package and NDIS recipients who are plan managed. Variable cost related to support worker hourly cost-plus KM rate.

Other residents who are not eligible for services such as CHSP or NDIS may also be assisted.  Ring MOSHCC to discuss your individual circumstances.
