Volunteering with Alexandrina Council

Volunteers play a vital role in providing our community to thrive.  The success of our programs relies on the contribution of all of our workers. Volunteers undertake varied roles and contribute in ways that support and build a healthy community in which we are all valued.

Volunteering can give you the opportunity to contribute and learn new skills, gain confidence and be a significant part of a team.   You can make new friends and gain satisfaction in the knowledge that volunteering really does make a difference.

A volunteer is a person who:

  • benefits the community and themselves by participating in volunteer programs
  • provides their services of their own free will
  • does not receive any monetary reward (reimbursements of out of pocket expenses are not regarded as monetary reward)
  • undertakes activities which complement, but do not replace the services provided by paid staff

Driving the Future - City of Victor Harbor

Volunteers needed for Driving the Future program
Alexandrina Council has partnered with the City of Victor Harbor to expand the Driving the Future program into the southern Alexandrina area. Driving the Future supports young people to gain the 75 hours driving experience required to transition from a Learner's to Provisional license. Volunteer driving supervisors are essential to this program. We are seeking Volunteer Driving Mentors who are keen to make a difference to the lives of young people by supervising their driving as they work towards obtaining their Provisional driver's license. You're not expected to be a professional driving instructor - you're simply there to provider supervision and support.

If this sounds like you, contact the City of Victor Harbor's Youth Development Officer on dwestern@victor.sa.gov.au or 8551 5000.
