Horseshoe Bay Jetty

The historic jetty at Horseshoe Bay, originally built in 1852, was successfully remediated following the start of on-site work in late February 2024.

The jetty had been closed after being damaged in a storm in early February 2023.

Council’s contractors moved their specialist equipment to Port Elliot for the project, and the jetty stairs were prefabricated off-site. The specialist treated timber used for the remediation was sourced appropriately.

Council had allocated funding for the jetty’s remediation in its 2023/24 budget. In late February 2024, the State Government contributed $174,000 through its SA Jetties Renewal Program, enabling Council to undertake additional work on the jetty to address structural issues that were projected to need attention in the next five to ten years.
