Beacon 19 drone McMahon 2

The Beacon 19 Boat Ramp is one of the main access points to the Coorong National Park.

These popular boating facilities are located near the Goolwa Barrage and have been upgraded to provide an improved and safer boat launching point for fishers accessing the Coorong.

The project involved dredging and the construction of two new jetties and a new pontoon structure. These new facilities will promote Goolwa and the surrounding areas as a boating destination. They will also encourage greater opportunities to link Beacon 19 with natural attractions such as bird watching, walks and other marine experiences found in the Coorong and Lower Lakes.

This $1.9 million project was supported with funding from the State Governments Economic Stimulus funding program.

Progress

The Beacon 19 Boat Ramp will be open to the public from Saturday, 2 September 2023.

These facilities will provide river access to the Coorong for recreational vessels. The upgrade includes two new jetties with floating pontoons, installed in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure & Transport Marine Services.

Congratulations to Council's contractors McMahon Services, Goolwa Jetty Builders, Magryn Engineering Consultants, and all trades and suppliers involved in delivering this project.

If you are looking to access the Coorong, please consider this new boat ramp.
