Middleton Pedestrian Refuges

Following years of Council advocacy for safer pedestrian crossings in Middleton, the State Government, through the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) has funded three 'pedestrian refuge' crossings on Goolwa Road at Middleton.
Two of the pedestrian refuges were completed in early March 2024. A third refuge was built in February 2026.

The Middleton toilet will have a feature brick wall, a front veranda, a bench seat, solar power and battery systems, stainless fixtures, basins and troughs, feature lighting and hand dryers, security lighting and sensors, and honed concrete floors.
Temporary portable toilets will be installed in the nearby area during construction.
