Arts and Culture

Our region is well known and respected for its rich culture and artisans alike. There are many beautiful townships littered through the region, teaming with art galleries, local produce, history and cultural experiences.

Just Add Water is the central focal point for arts and culture within the Alexandrina region.  The ‘Just Add Water’ program has brought to our Alexandrina district a mix of local, national and international visitors where the program has spread its' wings to other surrounding towns in the region.

Just Add Water aspires to offer arts and cultural experiences that enrich the lives of residents and visitors alike. Whether through direct participation in projects such as the annual Drawing on Country events across townships in Alexandrina, theatrical and musical offerings from Centenary Hall or visits to Signal Point Gallery and the South Coast Regional Art Centre the program offers something to tempt everyone.

In 2012 Goolwa was nominated as the South Australian Regional Centre for Culture. This accolade would not have been achieved had we not already had a thriving and all encompassing arts culture. This has enhanced our abilities to showcase the many talented artists in all fields and has raised cultural awareness to a new level.
