Enrolling to vote in Council elections

The next general council elections will be held in April 2027.

Enrolling to vote

The voters’ roll for council elections consists of two components – (1) the House of Assembly (State) roll, and (2) the council supplementary roll.

Persons on the House of Assembly roll with their primary address listed within the Alexandrina Council area will automatically receive a voting pack in the mail.

To check if your residential and postal details are up to date on the State (House of Assembly) electoral roll click here.

If you are enrolled on the House of Assembly (State) roll but your primary residence is not in the Alexandrina Council area you may still be eligible to register on the council supplementary roll if you are:

  • a non-resident sole owner (a landlord of a rateable property), or a non-resident occupier (tenant) within Alexandrina
  • an owner or occupier of an organisation or business
  • an owner of a holiday home
  • a group of owners or occupiers of rateable property.

All landlords, business lessees and property owners were removed from the council voters roll on 1 January 2026 and therefore must re-enrol to be able to vote using the appropriate form below.

People who have registered on the Supplementary Roll since 1 January 2026 will not be purged on 1 January 2027.
