SA Health information for Food handling businesses

Food handling businesses in South Australia will be impacted by changes to the Food Safety Standard (3.2.A – Food Safety Management Tools).

The Standard introduces new requirements for all food service, catering and retail businesses that handle unpackaged, ready-to-eat and potentially hazardous foods.

Impacted businesses must implement either two or three new food safety management tools, depending on their category. (See information attached)

The Tools are:

  • Food Handler Training
  • Nomination of a Food Safety Supervisor
  • Substantiation of key food handling activities

Affected businesses have until 8 December to implement the new standards.

SA Health are hosting virtual information session for businesses on Tuesday 23 May (9am & 3pm).
