A person must not without the permission of Council, undertake commercial activities on roads including footpaths, streets and road related areas.  Council may issue permits for commercial use of a road related area.

Activities which require a Commercial Use Street Trading Permit include but are not limited to:-

  • Non foodstuff vending i.e: books/clothes/furniture
  • Outdoor dining
  • Canvassing/leaflet distribution
  • Petrol station pumps
  • Trading racks
  • Flower sales
  • Information Stands & Pop Up Displays
  • Display of goods or overhanging articles for sale

Fees

Alexandrina Council charges an annual fee for use of public land for trading purposes. Fees payable will be in accordance with Council’s Schedule of Fees and Charges.

Permit Application forms are required to be lodged with Council a minimum of twenty one (21) business days in advance of the activity unless otherwise negotiated with Council.
